Mwongozo WA Utoaji Chakula Na Lishe Shuleni – Tanzania
National Guidelines for the Provision of Food and Nutrition Services to Basic Education Students (Mwongozo WA Kitaifa WA Utoaji WA Huduma Ya Chakula NA Lishe Kwa Wanafunzi WA Elimumsingi)
Access to food and nutrition services for students while they are in school is an important issue.
Studies show that when students are provided with food and nutrition services while in school, they are healthier, reduce absenteeism, increase attention, improve attendance, improve health and raise achievement levels (Lukindo, 2018; Maijo, 2019; WFP, 2013).
Considering this importance, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (WyEST) has prepared a National Guide to the Provision of Food and Nutrition Services for Basic Education Students.
The implementation of this Guide will enable students to overcome the problem of short-term hunger and hidden hunger, thus having good nutrition and good health to enable them to acquire the expected knowledge, skills and competencies.
In addition, it will enable the Basic Education graduate to contribute to his/her personal and national development as a whole.
