Kongwa District is one of the seven districts of the Dodoma Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by Manyara Region, to the east by Morogoro Region, to the south by Mpwapwa District, and to the west by Chamwino District. Its district capital is the town of Kongwa.
According to the 2012 Tanzania National Census, the population of Kongwa District was 309,973, up from 249,760 in the 2002 Census. By 2022, the population had grown to 443,867
Paved trunk road T3 from Morogoro to Dodoma passes through the district. As of 2012, Kongwa District was administratively divided into 22 wards
Kongwa District Council is one of the seven (7) districts of Dodoma region, established in 1996 under the Local Government Act of 1982, Sections No. 8 and No. 9. The district has an area of 4,041 square kilometers of which the area suitable for agriculture and livestock is 363,690 hectares .
The district has 3 Divisions of Kongwa, Mlali and Zoissa, 22 Wards , 87 Villages, 383 Subdistricts and two Municipalities of Kongwa and Kibaigwa.
The district borders Chamwino District to the West; Gairo District (Morogoro Region) to the East; Mpwapwa District to the South and Kiteto District (Manyara Region) to the North.
According to the 2012 Population and Housing Census, the District has a population growth rate of 2.4 percent; Thus, in 2015, Kongwa District is estimated to have a total population of 332,831 , of which 160,225 are males and 172,606 are females.
In addition, the number of households currently in existence is 61,994 . Households engaged in agricultural and livestock activities are 55,573, equivalent to 90%.

The National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) is a corporate body established pursuant to NACTVET Act, Cap. 129, to coordinate and regulate the provision of technical and vocational education and training.
The Council regulates an efficient national qualifications system that will ensure that products from technical and vocational institutions are of high quality and respond to changing needs as well as technological innovations in the world.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training in this context is defined as “Education and training undertaken by students to equip them to play roles requiring higher levels of skills, knowledge and understanding and in which they take responsibility for their areas of specialization”.
NACTVET is thus, a multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral body empowered to oversee and coordinate the provision of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Tanzania.
