What is Form One Selection?
Form One Selection in Tanzania refers to the process of assigning Standard Seven (Primary School) graduates to secondary schools after they complete the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) conducted by NECTA.
Form One Selection is the official placement process done by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) and TAMISEMI in collaboration with NECTA.
It determines which secondary school each pupil will join in Form One (Secondary Level) for the particular year.
When It Happens?
Usually takes place after the release of PSLE results, between December and January each year. Selected pupils start Form One classes in January (the new academic year).
Who Conducts the Selection?
The President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) manages the selection and posting process. It uses PSLE performance, school capacity, and regional quotas.
Who Qualifies?
Pupils who:
- Sit and pass the PSLE (Standard Seven National Examination).
- Are Tanzanian citizens.
- Are within the approved age range for secondary education.

1. Visit the official PO-RALG (TAMISEMI) website: https://www.tamisemi.go.tz
2. Click “Form One Selection” or “Wanafunzi Waliochaguliwa Kidato cha Kwanza”.
3. Then Choose:
- Region
- District
- School
4. View or download the list of selected students.
