Zanzibar Lower Primary Syllabus STD 1 – 3
After the Glorious Revolution, the Government inherited the colonial education system of 8 – 4 – 2, that is, eight years of primary education, four years of ordinary secondary education and two years of upper secondary education.
After a period of 40 years of the Glorious Revolution, the education system changed to a structure of 3 – 7 – 3 – 2 – 2, that is, three years of preparatory education, seven years of primary education, three years of lower secondary education, two years of ordinary secondary education and two years of upper secondary education.
Seven years of primary education and three years of lower secondary education constitute compulsory education, which is the right of every child in this country.
