SPORTS AND GAMES DEPARTMENT: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
1. To develop various sports and games at school.
2. To ensure that both teachers and learners (pupils) participate fully in sports and games.
3. To ensure that all the necessary equipments for sports and games are available and they are in good conditions.
4. To prepare and participate in internal and external sports and games competitions.
5. To develop the best ways to ensure that all community members at ASEC love and participate in sports and games as scheduled by the school.
6. To ensure that teachers, co-workers and learners appear in sportswear during sports days and giving punishments to those who will disobey.
7. To prepare competitive school teams capable of producing the best results during external competitions.
8. To prepare study tours or picnics as well as submitting reports to the head teacher as well as the director after every study tour or picnic.
9. To prepare terminal and annual reports concerning sports and games situation at school.
10. To perform any other duties as instructed by the head teacher.
Roles of the Teacher on the Ground – Sports and Game Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
On the field, a teacher wears many hats to ensure students are both learning and staying active:
• The Demonstrator: Physically showing the correct form for a skill (e.g., how to swing a bat or the proper stance for a sprint).
• The Model Disciplinarian: Setting the tone for sportsmanship, fair play, and following rules.
• The Safety Officer: Constantly scanning the environment for hazards (wet grass, loose equipment) and monitoring students for signs of fatigue or injury.
• The Motivator: Using praise and encouragement to increase participation, especially for students who may be less confident.
