All praise is due to Allah (S.W), the Lord of the worlds. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), his family, companions and all those who follow in his footsteps in teaching Islam.
We thank Allah (S.W) for enabling us to prepare a calendar for the implementation of the Islamic Religious Education curriculum for primary schools in mainland Tanzania.
The main objective
To strengthen teaching, learning, and assessment by ensuring that there is consistency in what is taught and assessed in all schools.
Specific objectives
(i) To enable teachers to complete topics and assess students on time to achieve the intended proficiency.
(ii) To facilitate monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
(iii) To eliminate the challenges of teachers skipping topics or subtopics.
(iv) To enable examination authorities to prepare examinations that are consistent with the topics taught in accordance with the curriculum calendar.
Key considerations
1. Teachers should use participatory methods to achieve learning.
2. Prepare a Work Statement and Lesson Plan based on the duration of the sessions.
3. Use additional sessions to enhance learning.
4. Schools should have adequate subject books.
5. Examination authorities should select qualified teachers to achieve implementation.
