COMPETENCE ONE: DEMONSTRATE MASTERY OF BASIC ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS
SPECIFIC COMPETENCES
i. Develop listening and speaking skills.
Focusing areas;
- Dictation
- Dictating a word
- Dictating a sentence
- Listening to oral texts
- Naming various things orally
ii. Develop phonemic awareness and pronunciation of English letters
Focusing areas;
- Describing actions orally
- Describing uses of common objects
- Describing locations of objects
- Reading aloud and answering oral questions
- Oral practices
iii. Use appropriate grammar and vocabulary both orally and in writing
Focusing areas;
- Using personal pronouns
- Expressing possession. (have and has)
- Describing routines (simple present)
- Describing ongoing activities (present continuous tense)
- Using conjunctions in connecting ideas using ‘and’ and ‘but
COMPETENCE TWO: COMPREHEND ORAL AND WRITTEN INFORMATION
