Tanzanian societies had relations with other African societies and foreign countries before the advent of colonialism.
In this chapter, you will study the relations between Tanzanian societies and other African societies, relations with societies in the Middle and Far East, relations with European societies, and the relations between Tanzanian value systems and other societies.
The skills you will develop will enable you to analyze and appreciate the cultural and economic interactions between Tanzanian societies and other societies and to understand how these interactions have contributed to the formation of modern Tanzanian culture.
Tanzanian communities had close ties with neighboring communities through migration and settlement.
People migrated from neighboring countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Malawi to settle in Tanzania, and Tanzanians also migrated to neighboring countries. This migration contributed to the exchange of culture and skills.
