Before 1973, all national examinations were administered by the Curriculum and Examinations Section of the Ministry of Education after Mainland Tanzania had pulled out of the East African Examinations Council in 1971.
The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) was established under the Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973 with the responsibility of administering all National Examinations and Assessments in Tanzania.
NECTA TIMETABLES FOR 2026 ACSEE, CSEE, FTNA, PSLE AND SFNA
I. NECTA ACSEE 2026 FORM SIX EXAMINATION TIMETABLE 2026
Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) is offered to candidates who have completed two years of advanced level secondary education and have at least three credits in their CSEE. This examination is for candidates who have completed two years of advanced level secondary education (Advanced level) and who had at least three credits in their CSEE.

II. NECTA CSEE 2026 FORM FOUR EXAMINATION TIMETABLE 2026
Certificate of Secondary Education Examination(CSEE) is an achievement test offered to candidates who have completed four years of secondary education. Any student who has completed four years of secondary education in both government and registered private schools and has passed the Form Two National Assessment or Qualifying Test is eligible to sit for this examination. Repeaters of the same examination registered as private candidates are also eligible.

III. NECTA FTNA 2026 FORM TWO EXAMINATION TIMETABLE 2026
The Form Two National Assessment (FTNA) is a formative evaluation which intends to monitor students’ learning in order to provide feedback that teachers, students and other educational stakeholders can use to improve teaching and learning.

IV. NECTA PSLE 2026 STANDARD SEVEN EXAMINATION TIMETABLE 2026
Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) is a selection test which enables the government to select form one entrants for its schools. Students who get selected and those not selected receive certificates. Any pupil who has completed standard seven in both government and private schools can be registered and sit for this examination.
