As a joint National General Assembly, on behalf of TANU and ASP members, we jointly understand and accept that our role in the history of the nation is to strengthen unity, bring about a socialist revolution in Tanzania and advance the struggle for liberation in Africa and around the world;
Whereas we recognize that the struggle for building socialism in Tanzania and our full participation in the revolutionary movement in Africa and the world requires a strong leadership that unites the thoughts and actions of workers and peasants;
Whereas we acknowledge and appreciate the great revolutionary work and great achievements that TANU and ASP have already done in lifting the African from the misery of exploitation, oppression and humiliation and bringing him to freedom and respect;
Since we recognize that the unity of TANU and ASP stems from our many years of cooperation since the time of the Struggle for Independence until now, and is also based on our common Politics of Socialism and Independence;
