New Curriculum of the Primary Education Curriculum Standard I to VI by Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE).
The Structure of Primary Education in Tanzania
As stated by the Education and Training Policy of 2014, the 2023 Edition, Primary Education is provided for a duration of six years and will consist of two stages. The first stage will be offered for a period of two years and will include Standard I and Standard II.
The main objective of this stage is to develop competences in Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic (3Rs). The second stage will span from Standard III to Standard VI and will aim to enhance 3Rs skills along with other life skills.
A pupil will begin Standard I at the age of six and complete Standard VI at the age of eleven.
