NIT Masters Courses And Programmes Offered
The National Institute of Transport (NIT) is a Public Higher Learning Institution established by NIT Act Cap 187 with the primary objective of providing Education and Training, conducting Research and Consultancy in the field of Logistics, Management and Transport Technology.
The Institute is operating under the Ministry of Transport. It is located on the west of Dar-es-Salaam region, along Mabibo road in Ubungo Light Industrial area, with fully accreditation by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) to provide Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) programs at the level of Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Masters (National Technical Awards -NTA level 4 to level 9).
The Institute has a total of 421 staff including 270 full-time teaching staff comprising two (2) Professors, 268 Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers, Tutors, Instructors and Technicians as well as 151 Administrative Staff.
The admission procedure

b) Applicants should read and understand the guidelines and admission requirements for the programmes they apply for.
c) Applicants should ensure that, they have adequate information for the programmes of choice taking into account the competition, subject passes in their form Four or six examination and career aspiration
d) Applicants holding foreign qualification should have their qualification validated and equated by the respective regulatory bodies before submitting the application for admission at the Institute.
NIT Masters Courses And Programmes Offered
1. Masters in Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management (MPLSCM)
Admission Requirements
a) Bachelor’s degree in procurement, logistics, supply chain management, or other business-related disciplines with a GPA of 2.7 or above. OR
b) Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Procurement, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management disciplines. OR
c) A passing degree with working experience of at least three years in the procurement, logistics, and supply chain industries. OR
d) Recognised professional qualifications such as CSP, CPSP, or CIPS.
2. Master’s in Shipping and Port Logistics Management (MSPLM)
Admission Requirements
a) Bachelor’s Degree Management/Logistics in Maritime and Logistics/Shipping Transport Management/Supply Management/Port Chain Management/Procurement and Logistics Management/Economics and Transport Planning disciplines or Freight Clearing and Forwarding with at least a GPA of 2.7 from a recognised higher learning institution. OR
b) Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Maritime Logistics/Shipping Management/Port Management/Logistics and Transport Management/Supply Chain Management/Procurement and Logistics Management/Economics and Transport Planning disciplines or Freight Clearing and Forwarding from a recognised higher learning institution. OR
c) A passing degree with working experience of at least three years in logistics, shipping, or the maritime industry.
d) Recognised professional qualifications such as CSP, CPSP.
3. Master of Mechanical Engineering with Transportation Machinery (MMETM)
Admission Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Automobile, Marine, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering (or Relevant Engineering fields) (NTA Level 8) with at least an overall GPA of 2.7 from recognized Institutions or equivalent qualifications in related Field.
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Automobile, Marine, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering (or Relevant Engineering fields) (NTA Level 8) with at least an overall GPA of 2.0 from recognized Institutions and with performance in the proposed subject of study at B grade or higher
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Automobile, Marine, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering (or Relevant Engineering fields) (NTA Level 8) with at least an overall GPA of 2.0 from recognized Institutions and with minimum of 3 years of working experience after graduation and must be registered as the Trainee Engineer.
4. Master of Logistics and Transport Management (MLTM)
Admission Requirements
a) Bachelor Degree in Logistics and Transport Management, or equivalent professional qualification with a minimum of upper second class. b) Bachelor Degree with at least lower second class will be considered if the applications hold another Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field of study. Note: For applicants coming from non-English speaking countries, they should submit a certificate of English language proficiency
