The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) was established under the Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973 with the responsibility of administering all National Examinations and Assessments in Tanzania.

The decision to establish NECTA was a follow-up of an earlier move in which Mainland Tanzania pulled out of the East African Examinations Council (EAEC) in 1971 in order to conduct her own examinations

The Tanzania Examinations Council would like to remind that the enrollment period for Pre-Primary and Standard One Pupils in 2025 as well as editing(proofing) the registration information for candidates 2025 has started for:

Standard Two National Assessment (STNA),
Standard Four National Assessment (SFNA)
Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)

The exercise of enrolling students as well as editing the information of candidates for the Examination classes (STNA, SFNA & PSLE) 2025 will be done by the Head of School.

I would like to provide the entire registration schedule including instructions regarding the registration of candidates for the year 2025 using the PReM system.

Reviewing and Proofing of Pupils Names

The candidate should be registered using the names as they appear on his birth certificate.

The council directs that the candidates be registered with three names in length starting with the first name (Firstname) followed by the middle name (Middle name) and the last name. Example; Stuck John Sindano.

Currently, a student from Class One to Class Four who has a birth certificate can register or correct errors in their previous registration by entering the birth certificate number (it is on the certificate or where it is written ‘entry No’).

To complete this follow the following instructions:-

(i) Log in to the PReM system and press the start query button for the student whose names you are verifying using the birth certificate.

(ii) In the ‘verification type‘ field, select ‘for birth certificate’

(iii) Enter the birth certificate number and the system will bring information from the RITA system (Authority that issues birth certificates).

(iv) Match the accuracy of the RITA information with the information in the PReM system and then press the word save to update the relevant student’s information.
