Topic 1 Develop Vocabulary-English STD 5
Words are powerful tools that help us to express what we see, feel and think. One way to develop our vocabulary is by learning words that mean the antonym of each other.
For example, the antonym of “hot” is “cold” and the opposite of “happy is “sad”. Knowing the antonyms helps us to speak and write more clearly and understand what others say more easily.
What is Vocabulary?
Vocabulary is the set of words that people get familiar with and use regularly to express themselves. It also includes every word that a person is habitual to and could use whether speaking, reading, or writing.
For example, Selena’s vocabulary is impressive
She uses so many colours for her vibrant paintings.
She uses several colours for her interesting paintings.
She uses vivid colours to make her paintings lively.
She uses vibrant colours to paint exquisitely.
She completes her work so fast.
She brings her work to completion quickly.
