An Exceptional child is an inclusive term encompassing children with learning and/or behaviour problems, children with physical disabilities or sensory impairments, and children who are intellectually gifted or have a special talent.
Special Education/Special Needs Education
Refers to the approach of providing education to learners or children who have varying degrees of physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities, as well as behavioural or emotional challenges.
This approach involves creating a tailored and individualized learning plan that takes into account the unique needs and differences of each student.
Fostering Intellectual Development for Gifted Students
Parents and Teachers can foster intellectual and talent development through;
- Conveying positive, realistic expectations:
- Encouraging independence;
- Guiding constructive coping strategies;
- Providing daily opportunities to build abilities and enjoy success;
- Pursuing positive social experiences for the child.
