What is a theory?
An interrelated set of concepts that is used to explain a body of data and to make predictions about the results of future experiments
A set of principles on which the practice of an activity is based
A systematic set of ideas that explain the relationship between variables
What is Learning?
Dictionary definitions:
Acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience or being taught
Being aware of something.
How learning takes place?
Behavioural learning theories are guided by the assumption that learning is a result of ASSOCIATION (Papalia, et al. 2004).
Principle of contiguity: whenever two or more sensations occur together often enough they will become associated
Individuals make associations between stimuli and response.
