The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology announces a Scholarship Programme called ‘SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP’ for undergraduate studies for 1,000 students who achieved high performance in the national form six examinations conducted by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) in the science subjects (PCB, PCM, CBG, PGM, CBA, PMC and CBN).
The ‘SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP’ funding will cover Higher Education studies for those students who have applied for or obtained admission in the fields of Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine in accordance with the ‘Guidelines’ issued by the Higher Education Student Loans Board (HESLB) which oversees the implementation of the ‘Scholarship’. SIFA ZA KUPATA UFADHILI WA SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP
i. Be a Tanzanian,
ii. Have a high performance (First Class, 3 to 5 points) in the 2025 National Examinations for Form Six conducted by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) in the specified science subjects. In addition, for those with special needs, have a first class performance (3 to 9 points) in the specified subjects,
iii. Have gained admission into a Higher Education Institution in the country recognized by the Government in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medical Sciences which are mentioned in the first group (Cluster 1) in the Guidelines for the Provision of Loans to Undergraduate Students for the academic year 2025/2026 available at www.heslb.go.tz,
iv. Have applied for funding correctly in the prescribed manner,
v. Must be among the students selected by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to benefit from the ‘Scholarship
SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING AREAS
The funding will be based on the Higher Education Student Loans Board standards and guidelines for funding the following areas:-
a. Tuition Fees
b. Food and Accommodation Allowance
c. Books and Stationery Allowance
d. Special Needs of Faculties
e. Practical Training
f. Research
g. Assistive Devices for Students with Special Needs
h. Health Insurance
SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING PERIOD
For students who have received scholarships through this funding, to study undergraduate degrees, they will be funded for a period of between three (03) to five (05) years depending on the relevant program they have been admitted to.
PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP
Applications for the ‘Samia Scholarship’ will be submitted to the Higher Education Student Loans Board online at https://olas.heslb.go.tz from July 28 to August 31, 2025. Students who will be allowed to apply are those whose list has been announced through www.moe.go.tz and www.heslb.go.tz

OBLIGATIONS/TERMS OF SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP
A student who will receive the ‘SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP’ Scholarship is responsible for adhering to the following conditions:
a. He/she must read, understand and sign the Scholarship Agreement between him/her and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology,
b. He/she must have a bank account for receiving the funds paid directly to him/her,
c. The beneficiary will not be allowed to change the study program he/she has been granted the scholarship without the written permission of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology,
d. The beneficiary will not be allowed to postpone his/her studies, except for health reasons, and confirmed in writing by the relevant institution,
e. If the beneficiary cancels the scholarship opportunity, he/she must submit a written statement to the Executive Director of the Higher Education Student Loans Board through the institution he/she was admitted and registered in,
f. If the beneficiary’s performance drops below a GPA of 3.8 during the academic year, his/her scholarship will be terminated.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE
a. This funding will be limited to the ‘Samia Scholarship’ guidelines issued by the Higher Education Student Loans Board
b. The list of names of the relevant students is available through www.moe.go.tz and www.heslb.go.tz
c. All students who applied for Samia Scholarship Extended (DS/AI+) are directed to also apply for Samia Scholarship for local universities and those on the list available through www.moe.go.tz and www.heslb.go.tz
