MUHAS Degree Programmes and Entry Qualifications
MUHAS Undergraduate Degree Programmes and Entry Qualifications (Sifa za Kujiunga Kusoma Degree Chuo cha Muhimbili): MUHAS has a range of programmes in biomedical, clinical and allied health sciences.
These programmes are taught in the five Schools and one academic Institute of the University.
The office of Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Research and Consultancy coordinates teaching of all academic programmes.
MUHAS Degree Programmes and Entry Qualifications
1. Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)
Direct Entry: Three principle passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of D grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Dental Health Sciences with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Mathematics at O-Level.
2. Doctor of Medicine
Direct Entry: Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of D grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Clinical Medicine with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Mathematics at O-Level
3. Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)
Direct Entry: Three principle passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of D grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Dental Health Sciences with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Mathematics at O-Level.
4. Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health Sciences (BSc EHS)
Direct Entry: Three principal passes in Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Mathematics or Nutrition or Geography or Agriculture with a minimum of 6 points. A minimum of C grade in Chemistry and D grade in Biology and at least E grade in Physics or Advanced Mathematics or Nutrition or Geography or Agriculture.
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Mathematics at O-Level
5. Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSc Midwifery)
Direct Entry: N/A
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Nursing or Advanced Diploma in Nursing Education with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.
6. Bachelor of Science in Nurse Anasthesia (BSc Nurse Anasthesia)
Direct Entry: N/A
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Nursing or Advanced Diploma in Nursing Education with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.
7. Bachelor of Pharmacy (Bpharm)
Direct Entry: Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of D grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Mathematics at O-Level.
8. Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (BSc Physiotherapy)
Direct Entry: Three principal passes at a minimum of C grade in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a minimum of 9 points
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in physiotherapy, Nursing, Clinical Medicine or Occupational Therapy with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “C”grade in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Biology at O-Level.
9. Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography (BSc Rad)
Direct Entry: Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum of 6 points: a minimum of C grade in Chemistry and D grade in Biology and at least E grade in Physics at A-Level.
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Radiology with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Mathematics at O-Level.
10. Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering (BBME)
Direct Entry: Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry and Advanced Mathematics with minimum of 8 points: A minimum of C grade in Advanced Mathematics and Physics and a minimum of D grade in Chemistry. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of C grade in Biology at O-Level.
Equivalent Entry: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Biomedical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science with an average of “B+” or a minimum GPA of 3.5. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level
11. Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS)
Direct Entry: Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum of 6 points: a minimum of C grade in Chemistry and D grade in Biology and at least E grade in Physics
Equivalent Entry: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Medical/Health Laboratory Sciences/Diploma in Medical laboratory Technology (DMLT) with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Mathematics at O-Level
12. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing)
Direct Entry: Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Advanced (“A”) level with minimum entry point of 8 points. Whereby one must have at least C grade in Chemistry and Biology and at least D grade in Physics
Equivalent Entry: Holder of Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Nursing with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or an average of B+ grade accredited by a relevant authority and approved by the University Senate. The candidate should have a certificate of secondary education examination (CSEE) with three passes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics
Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSc OT)
Direct Entry: Three principle Pass in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at ‘A’ level with the minimum of 6 points, Biology being Compulsory, whereby one must have at least D grade in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. ppropriate
Equivalent Entry: Diploma in Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Clinical Medicine with GPA of 3.0 or B grade or above
