Social systems

Tanzanian societies before colonialism have gone through different periods of development. We can divide those periods into three systems which are development in education, health and culture.

Learning these systems will help you to understand the best way to promote and develop the values of Tanzanian communities which have been derived from the heritage of the traditions and customs of Tanzanian communities.

The pre-colonial education system Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere (1922-1999), the first President of Tanzania and the Father of our Nation, once said that, "Any education, whether formal or informal, whether for adults, youth or children, it signifies the process of learning about anything that can help a person, a group of people and even society to understand the environment they live in and how they can use it or change it to improve their lives".

True education, emphasized Mwalimu Nyerere, "...is that which enables people to live a good life".

In other words, education is the process of learning various things about human life and activities in order to gain knowledge that helps a person or group of people to understand the world they live in and how they can use it to improve their lives and society in general. System is a word that means structure.

Therefore, here we will look at the education system that existed before the arrival of the colonists.
