HEAGTON NURSERY Monthly Test July 2024
The term “Nursery” generally refers to a place or program where young children, typically between the ages of 3 and 5, are cared for and educated in a playful and nurturing environment.
In a nursery setting, children are introduced to early learning activities that help develop their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.
There are two common meanings:
Nursery (Childcare/Preschool): A school or daycare setting for very young children, usually before they enter primary or elementary school. Activities in nurseries focus on basic skills such as language development, counting, social interaction, and creative play.
Nursery (Botany): A place where young plants and trees are grown and nurtured before being planted in gardens or farms.
Nursery exams or assessments are typically informal and designed to evaluate the developmental progress of very young children, usually between ages 3 to 5.
Rather than traditional written exams, these assessments focus on key areas of early childhood development.
Example of Activities in Nursery Exams:
Picture Identification: The child is shown pictures of familiar objects (apple, dog, ball) and asked to name them.
Counting Game: The child is asked to count items, like toys or blocks, aloud.
Drawing Test: Children are asked to draw a simple figure or shape.
Matching Game: The child matches similar objects (like matching socks or pairing similar pictures).
