The concept of society (Dhana ya Jamii)

Various scholars and philosophers have given different definitions of the concept of society. For example, the expert Emile Durkheim (1884) considers that society is the gathering of people as a whole. According to this scholar, man it is a catalyst for community growth. 

On the other hand, Margaret Thatcher (1987) describes society as people who are men, women and families theirs. 

Similarly, the philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau (1797) explains that society is the sum total of individuals. 

Thus, it is obvious that all scholars these tend to agree that society is people. In that context, society is a collection of people brought historically for the development of their lives and production.

History shows that from ages and ages, people have lived together and maintained 

  • Love
  • Peace
  • Unity and 
  • Solidarity in society

Communities live in villages, towns, countries and nations through various activities such as hunting, farming, fishing, breeding and trade. 

Society is made up of different groups. The first group are people related by blood or marriage which is called family. 

Family is a small group of people related by blood or marriage made up of father, mother, children and other relatives of father or mother. 

Several families with blood relations and the same origin form a group called a clan. Every clan is and his leader. Several related clans form a large group called tribe A tribe is a group of people who speak the same language and have traditions and customs of the same kind.
